Editor: Some time back I wrote a letter about the new tennis courts. I was invited to speak to (Schools Superintendent) Horton about the issue in his office, which I did on Aug. 10. Well, imagine my surprise when Dr. Horton actually took the time to completely answer all my questions. I guess it threw me because I always thought that public officials never gave complete, honest answers. You see, I think somewhere in Dr. Horton’s line of work he got a memo that stated that school officials were not allowed to be honest with the public. However, I think Dr. Horton just chuckled about it, threw the memo away, and said, “I’ll fool them bosses - I’ll just be honest anyway.’’ I like that, Dr. Horton. I think it took guts. Anyway, for those of you that have questions, take the time to see Dr. Horton. It’s quite refreshing to have a school offical that’s up front and to the point.
