The Huskies defeated Taft 51-34 on the road Jan. 19, collecting their first win of the season in girls basketball.

“We were able to jump out on them, get some turnovers and get some baskets,” said Coach John Barnes.

The Huskies led 16-5 after one quarter and 23-17 at halftime. They stretched their lead to 35-23 by the end of the third quarter.

“We actually got out and ran a little bit,” he said. “We were a little more effective.”

Annie Whitfield scored 11 points with 10 rebounds. Emili Riggs scored 10 and pulled down six boards.

The Huskies played at Newport Monday night. Results of that game were unavailable at press time.
