Sweet Home is an active community, particularly during the summer time. Here are some of the major events that happen here throughout the year:

Mountain Mud Festival
Santiam Mountain Mud Festival, thousands of four-wheel drive enthusiasts converge on Sweet Home to play in the mud. Generally held in January or February. Sponsored by the Santiam Four-Wheel Drive Association. www.themud.com

Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet

Rock and Mineral Show
The Sweet Home Rock and Mineral Show is held the first Saturday of April at the Sweet Home High School Activity Gym. The show, which has been held for more than 60 years, features collectors and dealers from throughout the state and beyond, including Sweet Home’s specialties – petrified wood, and Holley blue agate. Boys and Girls Club Auction

Flowers and Trees, Birds and Bees Spring Event
Held in early May, this event focuses on the outdoors – forestry, 4-H, gardening and environmental stewardship as well as featuring entertainment and various booths. For more information, call (541) 367-8969 or visit www.ci.sweet-home.or.us.

Kids Fishing Derby
First Saturday in June. Free fishing and competition for youngsters at Foster Dam and the South Santiam Fish Hatchery (for the wee ones). Numerous sponsoring agencies including the Sweet Home Ranger District, South Santiam Fish Hatchery.

Sportsman’s Holiday and Sweet Home Rodeo
Second weekend in July. The community's annual salute to summer fun. Grand parade, rodeo, Working Logger's Olympics, kiddie fun and much more. The Oregon Jamboree
A backyard barbecue for 8,000 people. 400 local volunteers and some of the best country-western music around. Past performers have included Lonestar, Merle Haggard, Wynonna Judd, Clint Black, Brooks and Dunn, John Anderson, Kenny Rogers, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Charlie Pride, Randy Travis, Gretchen Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Jo Dee Messina, Trisha Yearwood and many more. Arts and Crafts Festival
Held during the Oregon Jamboree at Sweet Home High School. Arts and crafts from a wide variety of local and outside artists. For more information, call (541) 367-8909.

Fall Harvest Festival
Held the first Saturday in October in Sankey Park, the festival brings together the community and various vendors who sell crafts, produce and food, along with lots of outdoors fun. For more information, call (541) 367-8969 or visit www.ci.sweet-home.or.us.

Christmas in Sweet Home
Mostly during first weekend of December, with occasional carryover to the second weekend: Christmas Parade, Community Christmas Display, Holiday Bazaars, Community Tree Lighting Ceremony, Singing Christmas Tree. All are sponsored by the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce and local merchants. A busy, fun-packed weekend that ushers in the holiday season in the community.
