Schools
Sweet Home School District includes five elementary schools, three within the city limits and two outside – in Holley and Crawfordsville – serving children in kindergarten through sixth grade; Sweet Home Junior High School for grades 7 and 8, and Sweet Home Senior High School for grades 9-12.
Sweet Home Charter School, which was established in the fall of 2006, serves children in kindergarten through sixth grade, with more grades to be added in the future.
East Linn Christian Academy has two campuses – Liberty, which is five miles north of Sweet Home, and Victory, which is just south of Lebanon – also serves Sweet Home students.
The Sweet Home community and its surrounding communities of Crawfordsville, Holley, Liberty, Foster and Cascadia recently passed an $18 million school facility bond that has paid for upgrades to all of our schools. Our newly remodeled high school included a new athletic facility, two new business classrooms, a new cafeteria, new administrative offices and a new state-of-the-art media center and computer lab.
It also includes a new addition that houses the Sweet Home Campus of Linn Benton Community College. LBCC’s Sweet Home center offers many opportunities for high school students as well as our citizens.
Sweet Home’s elementary class sizes average 24 students per class while most junior and senior high school classes remain near 28 students per class. Sweet Home schools also offer classes in areas such as art, music and vocational classes.
Local schools encourage volunteers to help in a wide variety of ways, such as reading with students, helping with art projects, working with class projects, chaperoning field trips, serving on school committees or even running for one of the nine school board positions. There are numerous ways to get involved at our schools and throughout our district.
