Local families learn kitchen skills in free culinary workshop

May 2, 2018

Sabastien Lazard and his mother Mary Lazard cut and bread chicken tenders during a healthy cooking workshop held by the Culinary Health Education and Fitness program April 25 at Sweet Home High School Consumer Science classroom. The workshop, organized by Krystal Boyechko of CHEF and Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, with instruction by students from the Lifestyle Track at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific Northwest and Linus Pauling Institute staff from Oregon State University, drew about 11 participants from four families, who made crispy baked chicken strips and a rainbow salad.

Luke Difalco works with his stepdaughter Alexis Armstrong across from Emily Terhune. The class was held in the Sweet Home High School consumer science classroom. Boyechko said she is planning a five-week course later in the year. For more information about the program and how to participate, contact Boyechko at (541) 768-5717.
