Bette Messenger, 81, of Albany died May 22, 2008.
She was born Jan. 14, 1927 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Chris and Viola (Hershberger) Bontrager.
She lived in Iowa until 1962 when she moved and settled in Arizona. Her first husband died in 1961. She married Bob Messenger in 1982. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Messenger was a hard worker. She raised her family while working outside the home. She loved to wait on her family. She worked with children with special needs at Albany Elementary school. She enjoyed her family and old gospel music. She loved the Lord and was looking forward to heaven.
She is survived by her children, Dean, Rick and Devon; very close friend David Russell; grandson Mathew; and granddaughters Amanda and Megan.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Paul.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, at Gilliland Cemetery.
