Coaches award

Sweet Home High School Athletic Director Steve Brown, left, showed up unexpectedly at a cross-country practice last week to surprise retiring coach Billy Snow with a recognition award from the Sky-Em Conference athletic directors. Brown said three people, all of whom have put in at least 20 years as coaches in the league, were honored – Snow among them. Snow began coaching at Sweet Home in the 1984-85 school year, eventually heading the cross-country and track and field programs, the latter of which have won three state championships. Brown said he recommended Snow for the award.
