Emily Marchbanks named softball MVP

The Huskies named Emily Marchbanks their most valuable player in softball during their annual awards banquet held June 2.

Coach Shane Cochran presented the Coach’s Award, selected by the coach, to Katie Virtue.

Marchbanks finished her senior year as pitcher with a .459 earned run average and 138 strikeouts, while Virtue finished with a .774 batting average and a .800 on-base average, leading Sweet Home to an 18-4 record and Sky-Em League title.

The team also voted and gave the Hustle Award to Caytlin Gillespie and Virtue.

Natalie Thorpe was Most Improved.

Receiving their first letters were freshmen Madi Barringer and Sarita Zanona and sophomores Maddee Hawken and Mackenzie Virtue.

Senior Molly Dadey was a second-year letterman.

Juniors Sierra Thayer, Natalie Thorpe and McKenzie Cochran received their third letters.

Four-year lettermen were Marchbanks and Katie Virtue.
