House burns on 27th Avenue

Flames are visible in a window, above as firefighters approach a house at 1190 27th Ave. Friday morning, June 21. At right, smoke pours from the eaves and windows after firefighters put water on the burning house. Battalion Chief Randy Whitfield said the cause is undetermined, but the investigation showed it started in the middle of the back toward the kitchen. Firefighters responded at 9:26 a.m. to find the house fully involvd, with fire at all four corners. Fire broke a couple of windows in the back and had started burning the exterior wall. Whitfield said the house, owned by Jasmine Magdalano, was a total loss, estimated at $100,000 for the building and $50,000 for the contents. Some eight people were at the residence at the time of the fire. Fourteen firefighters responded with four pieces of apparatus.
