The Linn County District Attorney’s Office recently recognized three employees for their work over the past year.
— Employee of the Year, attorney: District Attorney Doug Marteeny called 2021 “the year of Baker,” describing the accomplishments of Julia Baker, a prosecutor in the office for more than eight years.
“She had a number of significant trials this past year and in many of those achieved significant sentences,” he said. “She does a tremendous job of keeping her cases organized and on track. She has been a solid voice on our internal Efficiency Committee. She is fierce, smart, and helps others.”
The award is presented to individuals who’ve demonstrated the ability to work well with District Attorney’s Office staff, as well as public and public agencies. Honorees must go above and beyond the call of duty by taking initiative in their files and being proactive in achieving justice for crime victims.
— Employee of the Year, non-attorney: Marteeny hailed receptionist Ashley Scott, now in her eighth year, as “a great face and voice to a very fast-paced office.”
“She keeps our office moving and makes things happen,” he said. “She has the ability to speak calmly and compassionately to even the most frustrated person. She can read situations, anticipates the needs of others and problem solves in a way few can.”
— District Attorney Award:Landri Sassaman received the distinction from Marteeny himself.
“Landri has been with our office as a part-time employee for almost two years,” he said.
“She always brings a positive attitude to every task, she brightens the office, and is a thoughtful person. She has really stepped up to help this past year on a variety of tasks including covering the reception area when needed.
Landri has literally done something special to uplift each person in this office during the past year.”
