Myra Grow

Myra June Grow, 85, of Sweet Home died Nov. 27, 2007.

She was born Sept. 8, 1922 in Roseburg to Hugh William and Annie Izola (Christensen) Goodding. She married Charles Franklin Grow on Jan. 1, 1942 in Portland. They moved from Clackamas to Sweet Home in 1993.

Mrs. Grow went to college and beautician school. She worked as a school bus driver in Chiloquin and as a head cook for the schools, supported the war efforts by being a seamstress during World War II, and was also a buyer for a store.

She spent five years working with her husband at the Imnaha River salmon fish trap for the Oregon Fish and Wildlife. She loved cooking for family gatherings and making hundreds of quilts for family and friends. She knew no strangers and brought warmth and comfort and often a good laugh to those who had the privilege to meet her.

Mrs. Grow was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was very active in her church. She served three missions and worked closely with the Klamath and Modoc Indian tribes. She was a past Relief Society president and served in many other church callings.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Grow; children, Raymond and Becky Grow of South Jordan, Utah, Cheryl and Rod Bricco of Sweet Home and Laurie DeBortoli of Chiloquin; many foster children; seven grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Grow was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, one brother, and her son, Roger Grow.

The funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 3, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Sweet Home, with burial following at the Sunset Cemetery in Portland.
