Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance personnel responded Friday, June 11, to a rubbish fire that threatened a nearby building, above, near the junction of Highway 228 and Courtney Creek Drive in Crawfordsville at noon Friday, June 11. Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Fire Chief Dave Barringer said the rubbish pile, which included tires, was "burning quite heavily" until Crawfordsville volunteer firefighters John Marble and Danielle Kropf got to the scene with a tender and had the fire knocked down when other SHFAD personnel arrived.
