Susanna Rose Whipple

Aug. 29, 1943-Sept. 5, 2005

Susanna Rose Whipple, 63, of Lebanon died on Monday, Sept. 5, 2005.

She was born to Robert and Rosemary (Dennis) Ramsden in Seattle, Wash.

She graduated from Blanchet Catholic High School and later earned an associate of arts degree in medical terminology from Linn-Benton Community College.

She married Gordon Whipple in Seattle on Nov. 20, 1971. They had lived in the Sweet Home area since 1979.

Mrs. Whipple enjoyed reading, doing crosswords, playing cards, crocheting and playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Dale Whipple; children, Phillip Larson, Colleen (Rex) Brown, Jeff (Janelle) Larson, Shawna (Anjunette) Whipple and Laura (Shane) Powers; two brothers; two sisters; 10 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Her sister Bev Morse preceded her in death.

A celebration of life ceremony was held on Sept. 9 at the home of Laura and Shane Powers.

The Workman & Steckly Funeral Chapel handled the arrangements.

Raymond E. Baarson

Feb. 6, 1922 – Aug. 25, 2005

Raymond E. Baarson, 83, of Sweet Home, died of natural causes at his home Thursday, Aug. 25.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday September 2nd at Highland Cemetery, and were followed by a reception at the VFW Post No. 1087.

Survivors include his wife, Lorraine Baarson of Sweet Home; sons Gary Baarson of Eagle, Idaho, and Jerry Baarson of Sweet Home; daughter, Shirley Zook of Swan Lake, Mont.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was born Feb. 6, 1922, in Great Falls, Mont., to Carl and Ellen (Erickson) Baarson and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1940. He married Lorraine M. Stocker on Jan. 19, 1943, in Wallace, Idaho. He joined the United States Navy in 1942 and served as an Aviation Radio Technician with the Black Cat PBY Squadron in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from the Great Falls Public School District in 1985. He moved to Sweet Home in 1992. He enjoyed working outdoors, building projects, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Baarson, and one grandchild.

Nina Anne Ingram

March 19, 1939-Sept. 6, 2005

Nina Anne Ingram, 66, of Sweet Home died Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Portland’s Oregon Health Sciences University hospital.

She was born to Wilber and Marian (Clark) Krell on March 19, 1939 in San Mateo Calif. Her mother died while she was quite young and she was raised by her step-mother Marguerite (Mullin) Krell.

She graduated from Redwood High in Woodside, and attended junior college in the area prior to moving to Mosier,Ore. with her parents in 1960. She attended Oregon State University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

She met and married Paul Ingram on March 19, 1962 while attending OSU. They lived in Redmond, Leaburg, and Blue River prior to moving to Sweet Home in 1968.

Mrs. Ingram taught school in Redmond and Sweet Home for 23 years. In Sweet Home she taught first and second grades at Crawfordsville, Pleasant Valley, and Hawthorne, where she retired in 1997.

She was baptized in the Congregational church of San Mateo on Dec. 24, 1955, and was confirmed in the Episcopal church in Sweet Home on March 7th 1982. She was strong in her faith, enjoyed watching children grow and learn, was an avid gardener, and was an excellent role model for all who knew her. The special delight of her life were her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband Paul, daughter Jayne Coughlin and granddaughter Madison of Eugene, son Michael and wife Sherrie and grandchildren Victoria, Adria, and Jacob of Sweet Home. Other survivors are her brother, Wynn Krell of Carthage Mo., and a sister, Donna Rhodes of The Dalles.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at the Community Chapel at Ames Creek in Sweet Home. Following the service will be a time of fellowship, sharing and a luncheon.

Donations in Nina’s memory can be to either the Nina Ingram memorial fund at St. Francis Church, 341 8th Ave., Sweet Home, OR 97386, or to The Episcopal Relief and Development Fund ? St. Francis Church.

Interment of her ashes will be in the Ingram family plot at Mount Hope Cemetery in Baker City.
