Citizen's complaint prompts action

School District 55 Supt. Larry Horton said he will investigate a complaint that the district is wasting gallons and gallons of water while watering its athletic fields.
City resident Hollie Houston told the School Board during the public comments period at the board's regular meeting Monday night that she uses the district grounds to walk.
"What I find extremely offensive is the waste of water," Houston said, noting that she has to be careful how much water she uses.
"I see gallons and gallons of water flowing into the catch basins," she said. The sprinklers run for hours during the day...
