August 18, 2015

Feb. 14, 1941 - July 29, 2015

James Lee Malone, 74, of Holley died July 29, 2015.

He was born on Feb. 14, 1941 in Holley, the youngest of seven children born to Ernest and Vina (Matlock) Malone.

He graduated from Sweet Home Union High School.

Mr. Malone was known for his love of cars and spent his life working on them. They were his passion – especially hot rods, T-buckets and Corvettes.

In his youth, he became a truck driver and spent his career driving all over Oregon and Washington. In his later years, he and his wife Jean traveled in their motorhome through the West, seeing the sights and visiting all but one lighthouse in the state of Oregon.

Mr. Malone was also a fan of rock ’n’ roll, the “oldies-but-goodies,” and watching western films. He always had a smile on his face and was a real gentleman who loved his family.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Elaine Malone; sisters Ernestine Hipp and Wanda Church; brother Francis Malone; son Chris Malone; daughter Jamie Le Thurston; stepsons Richard Rathmanner and Lloyd Blackwell; stepdaughters Lynnea Trotter and Shawna Peterson; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Joan Louise Malone; brothers Woody and Tom; and a sister, Thelma.

A funeral service was held Aug. 4 at the Gateway Little Chapel of the Chimes in Portland.
