HUSKIETTES MEMBERS pose with their first-place trophy following their win at South Albany on Saturday.

The Sweet Home High School Huskiettes placed first at South Albany Saturday afternoon.

“We were in a category of five teams,” said Coach Eohe Howerton. “Our score yesterday of 72.17 was the highest the Sweet Home dance team has seen in years and years and score that is well-deserved. I am so proud of these girls and their accomplishments.

“When they announced our team as the first-place trophy, my girls cried tears of joy. Their faces just melted my heart. I want that moment to resonate with them for the rest of their lives. They truly make me a better person.”

Over the next few weeks, the team will continue to prepare for championships, Howerton said. “Our state division is tough, with 17 teams, including all 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A schools at state, so this just means we will push ourselves even harder to continue increasing our score.”
