Editor:

Saturday, March 12, after a great day of skiing in foot-deep powder at Hoodoo, my daughter and I were returning home to Corvallis when our 22-year-old Volvo completely lost power climbing the grade to Tombstone Pass.

It was 9 p.m., pitch dark, and there was no cell service for miles around. I was able to roll the car mostly out of the westbound lane onto the shoulder, but we were stranded.

About 10 minutes into our adventure, we saw headlights approaching and we were greeted by Todd and Shauna McIntyre. After making sure our car was in a secure space, they made room for us and we were made to feel welcome and safe on the drive down to their hometown of Sweet Home. They recommended to us a first-rate towing service, AllStar, which we used, and brought us to their 24-hour Safeway, our home base until my wife arrived to take us the rest of the way home.

Thank you again, Todd and Shawna, for your help and kindness in our time of need.
