April 5, 2016

Sweet Home’s golfers finished fifth out of eight teams Thursday, March 31, at Santiam Golf Club in Stayton.

The Huskies, led by Jake Hindmarsh’s 104, finished with 437, “a huge improvement over our first time out” – a 472 at Tokatee, Coach Pat Davis said.

Dawson Guzman was second for Sweet Home, with a 107, followed by Seth Wright (110) and Cameron Lucas (116).

The girls and junior varsity boys got their first round on a course they don’t practice on, playing 18 holes at Fiddler’s Green, on Friday, April 1, in a meet with North Marion, Newport, Cascade, Oakridge and Junction City.

Haley May shot 82 to finish first among the girls and third overall, and Alayna Davis finished with 94, good for third among the girls and 12th overall.

Cameron Lucas shot 86 for the boys and Jackson Lynn finished with 96.

The varsity boys will play Thursday, April 7, at Langdon Farms in North Marion and again on Monday, April 11, at Shadow Hills in Junction City. The JV boys and girls will play Wednesday, April 13, at Middlefield in Cottage Grove.
