Photo courtesy of Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District/The Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District and the Oregon Department of Forestry responded to a grass fire at 2:47 p.m. on Thursday in the 41900 block of Marks Ridge Road in Sweet Home. The fire burned approximately one-eighth of an acre including one large oak tree. The fire began on a neighboring property where a burn pile got out of control. The person responsible for the fire allegedly did not call 9-1-1 to report it or notify authorities or the property owner that the fire was smoldering in the tree for several days, fire officials reported The two agencies extinguished the fire Mikal Dutton, 53, for allowing a fire to escape.

5:31 a.m. - Naghmeh Kia, 26, cited for speeding, 44-25, 2400 block of Main.

9:50 a.m. - Caller reported the theft of a firearm in the past two weeks, 1200 block of 40th. Report taken. Loss valued at $850.

12:51 p.m. - Jason Alan Hainline, 37, arrested on Marion County warrant for second-degree theft and Linn County warrant for probation violation on original charge of first-degree burglary and Sweet Home warrant for failure to appear on original charge of first-degree criminal trespass. Transported to Linn County Jail.
