James Dale Malloy, 80, of Sweet Home died May 18, 2016.

“Big Jim” or “Daddy-O,” as he was called by those who knew and loved him, was born April 23, 1936 in Piedmont Mo., to Thomas George and Ruth Violet (Mahaney) Malloy, one of 11 children.

He lived in Missouri, Washington, California and Kingman, Ariz., finally settling in Sweet Home 25 years ago.

Mr. Malloy enjoyed fishing and reading westerns. He was a great singer. He had a big heart and helped anyone in need. He loved to cook for people.

Mr. Malloy is survived by his sister, Hazel Hilker of Arnold, Mo.; his brother Bill Malloy of McMinnville; “son” Dwight of Sweet Home; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clyde, Claude, Tom, Bob and Paul Malloy; and sisters Lucille Henson, Kathleen McGuire and Wanda Estes.

A Celebration of Life is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Sweet Home VFW.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
