Mary Lou Pugh, 79, of Sweet Home, died July 2, 2016.

She was born July 14, 1936 in Detroit Lake, Minn. to Floyd V. and Clara E. (Shanks) Simpson.

She moved from Minnesota to Portland in 1941. She graduated from Lebanon High School in 1954 and married Faron “Red” Pugh in Port Townsend, Wash. on July 2, 1955.

They moved to Sweet Home in 1961.

Mrs. Pugh worked at Whites Electronics from 1966 to 1971. She also worked at Willamette Rehab center as a teacher and was a homemaker.

She enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling to Yuma, Ariz. and Mexico. She loved raising her family and being with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Pugh is survived by her husband, Faron “Red” Pugh of Sweet Home; children Randy J. Pugh of Kent, Wash., Melissa K. Edgemon of Bellingham, Wash., David M. Pugh of Cascadia; daughter-in-law Rochelle Coulter of Albany; sister Jackie Barkdale of Albany; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Yvonne Wodtli and Illa Miller; and brother Don Simpson.

Private family services were held.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
