SH woman injured in Hwy. 228 crash, which was followed by grass fire

RESCUE WORKERS extricate the driver of an Oldsmobile, right, that Oregon State Police say collided head-on with the Toyota at left.

A head-on collision blocked Highway 228 Sunday afternoon and sent two drivers, including a Sweet Home woman, to area hospitals.

Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District personnel responded at 3:13 p.m. to the two-vehicle collision near the Holley Market.

According to the Oregon State Police, Sharon Howard, 55, of Lebanon was driving westbound on Highway 228 in an Oldsmobile when her car crossed a double line near milepost 16 and collided head-on with a Toyota Corolla driven by Abigail Raine Bear, 28, of Sweet Home.

According to SHFAD, there were no other occupants in the vehicles.
