300 SH youths bowl free at Linn Lanes

September 13, 2016

More than 2,400 local youngsters got the opportunity to try bowling this summer during Linn Lanes Bowling Center’s Kids Bowl Free program.

They included 300 from Sweet Home, according to Linn Lanes proprietor Gary Heintzman.

“We had kids from all over Linn County, various cities in Oregon, 14 different states, plus a family visiting the area from New Zealand.” Heintzman said.

The only requirements to participate in the Kids Bowl Free program at Linn Lanes were that youngsters had to be between ages 2-18 and complete a short informational form. Once registered, young people could bowl two games free each day from June 1 to Aug. 31, with shoe rental included.

Pennington Seed donated two bicycles, each with a helmet and lock. Kids Bowl Free participants were allowed to enter each time they came to bowl for a chance to win. Dylan Walker, 8, and Jordynne Rankin, 5, were winners of the bikes in a drawing held Saturday, Aug. 27.

Linn Lanes offers bowling opportunities for children throughout the year. The center’s Youth League will start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, and will last for 10 weeks.
