Oregon needs

electoral changes


Keith Scofield (Nov. 16) has the right idea.

Most of the area of Oregon never has a say in how our electors vote, because the major cities of Portland and its metro area, Salem, Corvallis and Eugene, because of their population, can out-vote all the rest of the state in sheer numbers.

But not all of Oregon’s electors represent those high population areas, so they get lumped in with those that do because of the 50 percent-plus-1 rule Oregon operates under.

This needs to be changed so we who live in areas that vote usually opposite those large p...
