Longtime Kenai resident Cledith T. (Thompson) Duncan, 85, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Nicholson’s Assisted Living in Kenai.

Private family graveside services will be held at McGahan Cemetery in Nikiski.

Cledith was born Jan. 15, 1932 in Garvin, Okla. to Albert and Rosa (Coffman) Thompson.

She married Allen L. Duncan in DeQueen, Ark. In 1950, Louise, their first child, was born in DeQueen. In 1952, they sang “Happy Birthday” to Louise as they were coming over the Santiam Pass into Sweet Home, where their four other children, Patricia Lee, Jean Lavon, Troy Allen and Dovina Kay, were born.

Cledith was a stay-home person, loved her children, liked to do yard work and raise a garden. She loved to camp and go fishing as well. She worked 10 years at White’s Electric and in retirement, she did home health care work and volunteered many years for Shim.

In March 2003, Cledith moved to Alaska, where her daughter Pat, son-in-law, Glen and grandson Jacob took care of her. She often told her friends and family members that there were no words to say what it meant to her. She was so very thankful for the love they showed her.

Cledith was preceded in death by her husband, Allen, in 1986; grandson Jonathan Zundel in 2001; sisters Sarah Thompson, Nadine Davis and Ola May Beck; brother John Albert; and her parents.

She is survived by her children, Louise Little and son-in-law Lonnie, and Jean Kirk and son-in-law Curtis, all of Springfield, Troy Duncan and daughter-in-law Bonnie of Sweet Home, Dovina Miclette and son-in-law Gary of Massachusetts, and Patricia Zundel and son-in-law Glen of Alaska; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Nicholson’s Assisted Living, In Memory of Cledith Duncan, P.O. Box 2495, Kenai, AK 99611.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
