Carl Lee McCalister, 75, of Sweet Home died March 27, 2017.

He was born Sept. 28, 1941 in San Jose, Riley Mac and Rowina (Leonard) McCalister.

He served in the United States Army as a Marksman from 1960 - 1963. While in the Army he was stationed in Germany and Fort Hamilton, New York.

Mr. McCalister lived in Cambell, Calif., Roodhouse, Ill. and Kansas before coming to Sweet Home in 1978.

He was a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling and working on cars. He even drove stock cars. He loved spending time with his kids and grandchildren.

Mr. McCalister is survived by his wife, Wanda Rose McCalister of Sweet Home; sons Robby and daughter-in-law Terri Mcgee of Roodhouse, Ill., Terry and daughter-in-law Bobbie McCalister, and Mac McCalister, all of Sweet Home; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. McCalister was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Rowina; and his Uncle Willie McCalister, who raised him.

A memorial service was held March 31 at Sweet Home VFW.

Memorial contributions can be made in Mr. McCalister’s name to the American Diabetes Association.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
