Earl Lloyd Hendrickson, 90, of Sweet Home, died April 4, 2017.

He was born Sept. 23, 1926 in Bayview to Henry and Bessie (Porter) Hendrickson.

Mr. Hendrickson served in the United States Army from Jan. 24, 1945 to Nov. 18, 1946, during World War II in Fukuoka, Japan. He received the Victory Medal, Asiatic Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Japan).

Mr. Hendrickson moved to Toledo in 1947 and then, in 1952, to Sweet Home, where he resided until his death.

He quit school at the age of 12 because he was needed to help the family earn a living. He worked picking beans and strawberries before taking a job with a logging company. He then worked in a mill in Toledo, eventually moving to Sweet Home and worked to construct the Cladwood plant known as Smurfit. He worked there as a foreman until his retirement.

Mr. Hendrickson enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and karaoke.

He is survived by a daughter, Sue Tenbusch of Sweet Home; sister Doris Olson of Montana; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Hendrickson; wife Darlene Hendrickson; siblings Kenneth, twins Bob and Dick, John, Julia, Henrietta and Mildred.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday May 20, at the VFW in Sweet Home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
