Huskies smash Sutherlin in softball doubleheader

MAKENNA MELBYE gets tangled up in the feet of Sutherlin runner Megan Carrillo at home plate.

In softball action, the Huskies beat Sutherlin twice Friday in a doubleheader at home, winning 6-1 in the first game and shutting out Sutherlin 10-0 in five innings.

After those games, Sweet Home is 6-4 in league and 10-8 overall behind Junction City, 8-1, and Elmira, 11-1.

Sutherlin, 4-7, is in fourth place in the Sky-Em League. Sisters, 2-7 is in fifth, and Cottage Grove, 0-11, is last.

The Huskies were scheduled to play at Junction City Monday evening and host Elmira Tuesday. They will host Sisters next Tuesday.
