Bible study weekly

at Christian Church

Sweet Home Christian Church is holding a community Bible study from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursdays in the education building at 18th and Long St.

Everyone is welcome.

The study topic will be the book of Ephesians until Aug. 31.

Wound care now offered at SLCH

Samaritan Health Services has opened a wound care clinic and vein care consultation clinic in Lebanon based out of Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, 525 N Santiam Hwy.

Wound care treatment will be available for non-healing wounds, as well as evaluation of patients in need of hyperbaric oxygen therapy. The services will be provided by Scott Rasmussen, DPM, and Larry Buglino, DO.

Dr. Buglino will also provide vein consultation to patients in need of medical treatment for varicose veins or other symptoms that result from venous reflux disease.

Wound and vein care is also available in North Albany, as are medical and cosmetic vein services in Corvallis. A referral from a primary care provider is required.

B&G Club football

deadline July 19

Sign-ups for Sweet Home Boys and Girls Club youth football are under way.

High school coaches will be actively involved in the program. Tackle football is offered for fifth- and sixth-graders. Cost is $170.

Flag football is offered for second- through fourth-graders. Cost is $85.

Deadline for sign-ups is July 19.

Rep. Barnhart to hold town hall

Representative Phil Barnhart will hold a town hall meeting at 7:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at Randy’s Main Street Coffee, 240 N. Main St, Brownsville.

The meeting will cover the end of the legislative session and talk about priorities for the next session in 2018.

Jazz trio to play

at Marks Ridge

The Mrs. T trio will perform piano jazz and vocals at Marks Ridge Winery at 7 p.m. Friday, July 21.

Cost is $10.

Bring cheese, crackers or picnic dinner. No outside alcohol is allowed.

Comedy, local band at The Point

The Eugene Comedy Show will perform at 6 p.m. at The Point, 6305 Highway 20, followed by local cover band All Rights Reserved at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 22.

Extension offering

fermentation class

OSU Extension Service and Corvallis Brewing Supply will hold a class on safely making fermented foods and drinks from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at the Linn Extension Office, 33630 McFarland Road, Tangent.

Sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha and vinegars will be covered in the hands-on class.

Pre-registration is required because of limited class size. Cost is $25. All ingredients and supplies are included.

Sheriff’s Dog Fest Saturday in Albany

The Linn County Sheriff’s Office will hold its annual Dog Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Linn County Animal Control, 3008 Ferry St. SW, Albany.

The event will include waiving of late fees, half price adoptions, $15 microchip clinic and a dog wash. Willamette Valley Animal Hospital will be offering a low-cost vaccine clinic, as well as other veterinary services.

The Sheriff’s Office will serve a barbecue for the attendees. Other vendors will have booths, door prizes, raffle baskets and a pet food give-away.

‘Stand By Me’ Day

in Brownsville

The City of Brownsville will host "Stand By Me” Day Sunday, July 23, celebrating 31 years since the release of the Stand By Me movie.

Tour the different scene locations, hear tales of filming escapades and have breakfast at "Irby’s Billiards.”

There will be a car show, street music, T shirt sales and more.

Proceeds benefit the Linn County Museum Friends.

Lego Day at

Lebanon Library

The Lebanon Public Library will host a Lego Day at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 27, for ages 6 and above.

Legos will be provided. All finished Lego creations will be displayed in the library’s special display case for everyone to enjoy!

Admission is free and does not require a library card.

Local artists’ work on display at OSU

The 12th annual Community Art Show will run through July 27 at the Guistina Gallery in The LaSells Stewart Center.

This non-juried exhibit features the work of local artists, regardless of age or skill level, to submit any art piece they’ve created to showcase in the gallery. There is no cost to submit artwork.

The Guistina Gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is located on the Oregon State University campus at 875 SW 26th St, Corvallis. Parking is available across the street in the Reser Stadium parking lot for $1 per hour from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. (free after 5).

Hackleman hike offered July 28

The Sweet Home Ranger Station will host an easy two-mile hike along the Hackleman Old Growth trail at 9 a.m. Friday, July 28.

Tree species and fire ecology will be discussed.

Volunteer for SH clean-up July 29

A community clean-up day in Sweet Home will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, July 29.

A safety meeting will be held in the parking lot by the Rio Theatre at 8:30. All volunteers must attend. Groups depart at 9 a.m.

Dress to get dirty. Gloves are required.

‘My Fair Lady’ on stage Aug. 1-5

Lebanon Association for Theater Arts will present My Fair Lady at 7 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, Aug. 1 to Aug. 5, with a matinee at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5.

My Fair Lady is a Broadway Musical from 1956.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for student/senior tickets.

Tickets are sold in Lebanon at Linn Co Credit Union, Umpqua Bank and Lebanon Chamber of Commerce.

Area photographer to exhibit work

Lebanon photographer Ken Bolf will present an exhibit of new works Aug. 1 to Sept. 30 at Citizens Bank, 2122 S. Santiam, Lebanon.

This is the 10th consecutive year Bolf has displayed his work at Citizens Bank.

Bolf’s photographs focus on landscapes and wildlife.

Solar Eclipse Run

in Sweet Home

A 3.5 mile Solar Eclipse Run will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Sankey Park on 14th Avenue in Sweet Home.

Cost is $25 for early registration, $40 on race day and $25 for the virtual run. Early registration ends Friday, Aug. 18. Virtual run registration ends Friday, Aug. 11.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels, also known as Your Table or Ours, offers lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.

The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.

First-time diners are invited to come in and have a free lunch to give it a try.

Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk, coffee or tea upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.

The menu on Friday, July 21, is fish patty with Tartar sauce or sloppy Joe, both on a bun, baked beans, Mandarin pineapple salad and frosted marble cake.

The menu on Monday, chicken marsala bake or beef Spanish rice, herbed carrots, spinach Romaine salad, oat bran roll and Mandarin oranges.

The menu on Tuesday, July 25, is lasagna rollup or western pork stew, broccoli, cuke/tomato/onion salad, garlic roll and peanut butter bar.
