The second annual Health Fair drew more than twice as many visitors as last year’s, said Health Fair Chairman Bob Dalton.

Brantley Larkin, 3, spins a wheel for prizes at the Sweet Home Police Department Booth during the annual Jim Bean Public Safety Fair ,held outside the High School Activity Gym, and health fair.

Last year, the event drew more than 300. He estimated more than 700 this year. The event was held simultaneously with the annual Jim Bean Public Safety Fair, which provided free bike inspections and helmets to visiting children.

Each event featured numerous booths and vendors with useful information about health and safety. The Health Fair included several free health screenings. Dalton said one man discovered he has skin cancer, and he didn’t realize it. Several individuals were referred to their doctors for testing high in blood sugar.

“I think it really probably exceeded our expectations for just year two of it,” Dalton said. “A great amount of people took the time to stop and understand the services provided.”
