Joe Brocard III, right, in apron, manages his 1913 hydraulic apple cider mill Saturday, Oct. 21, during his family’s annual open house at their Antique Apple Orchard just west of The Narrows on Highway 20. The event involves multiple generations of the extended family, who press apples and sell the cider. The machine was purchased in New Jersey by Brocard’s grandfather, also named Joe, and has been in the family since. Barely visible behind the belts, to the left of the press, is Joe Brocard IV.
