SH runs out of gas at Sutherlin

The Huskies lost 49-21 at Sutherlin in girls basketball Friday.

They played competitively three out of four quarters, said Coach Dave McNeil, but “after halftime, we couldn’t maintain our energy.”

Sutherlin built a 9-4 lead in the first quarter and led 17-9 at halftime. The Huskies went scoreless in the third while Sutherlin added 19 to lead 35-9. The Huskies scored 12 in the fourth quarter, while Sutherlin scored 13.

Kelika Aiona and Christina Belcher led the Huskies with four points each.

The junior varsity beat Sutherlin 47-21. The team led 24-13 at halftime.

Leading the way were Rebekah Belcher with 20 and C. Belcher and Natalie Rodgers with 11.

The Huskies were scheduled to host Sisters Tuesday. They will travel to Elmira Friday and Cottage Grove next Tuesday. They will host Junction City on Feb. 16 in their final league game.
