Fire burns grass and blackberries near Foster Dam

July 25, 2018

Firefighters from Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District spray down a burned area after a small grass fire ignited below Foster Dam Tuesday morning, July 17. The fire was probably caused by an abandoned campfire left by a homeless person, said Battalion Chief Randy Whitfield. It burned about a tenth of an acre. Firefighters, six from SHFAD and three from Oregon Department of Forestry, responded to the fire at 11:24 a.m. Whitfield said the dry weather was a key factor in the spread of the fire.
