Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District rescue personnel responded Sunday at approximately 2 p.m. to a call regarding a hunter who was having medical issues southeast of Green Peter Dam. Crews responded to a location 10 miles off Quartzville Road on South Bank 220 Road. According to a SHFAD statement, the hunter was having heart problems and was unable to stand or walk. The victim's hunting partner drove to find cell service and waited to lead crews in. It took an hour to hike down and locate the victim 600 feet down a steep bank and 45 minutes to assist him out to the road. Eight SHFAD firefighters, along with three from Oregon Department of Forestry, one Linn County Sheriff's deputy and an Oregon State Police game warden responded.
