Volunteers from Sweet Home and beyond spent the first day of the new year, Jan. 1, cleaning up Marks Ridge Drive. According to organizer Dave Trystman, the group, known on social media as Cleaner Greener Oregon, collected 86 tires and a total of 4,380 pounds of garbage from the roadside. Trystman said Les Schwab took the discarded tires, saving the volunteers over $250. 7-Eleven of Lebanon donated lunch for the approximately 15 people who showed up to help.
