Ronald Eldon Banta, 74, of Sweet Home, died Feb. 27, 2019 in Eugene.
He was born June 3, 1944 in Lebanon to Leo and Pauline (Hoeft) Banta.
His last place of residence was Eugene.
He lived in the mid-Willamette Valley all of his life, but always considered Sweet Home his home.
Mr. Banta worked in the timber industry as a logger.
He loved the outdoors – hunting, fishing and camping. He raised and trained homing pigeons for a time. As his health declined he enjoyed car rides, talking about “old times” and chocolate milkshakes.
Mr. Banta is survived by his two children, son Ronald Eldon Banta II of Zuni, Va., and daughter Paige Banta of Sweet Home; sister Judith Hunter of Lebanon; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kathy Kliever.
