Baseball team loses to three top-five teams opening week

Third-ranked Banks scored a series of runs late in the game to slip by the Huskies 5-4 Friday evening.

Playing on the road, with one ball and one strike, Nate Virtue tripled on a line drive to center field to things going for 13th-ranked Sweet Home. Zach Luttmer grounded out to shortstop, and Virtue scored the team’s first run. Colton Smith walked then scored on a hard ground ball to right field by Aiden Tyler to go ahead 2-0.

The Huskies led 4-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning.

Banks scored four on two walks, a pair of doubles and a wild pitch to take a 5-4 lead and the game...
