Michael Jay Epperson, 60, of Sweet Home, died June 22, 2019.
He was born March 5, 1959 in Lebanon to James A. and Betty J. (Hamm) Epperson.
He lived in Hermiston, the Oregon coast and in Sweet Home. He married Wanda June Huff. They were married for 35 years and loved each other very much, even through the bumps in the road.
Mr. Epperson was a hard worker. He had many jobs – whatever it took to support his family. He worked as a dishwasher and gas station attendant, but particularly as a mechanic.
In the last four years he found the Lord and loved him deeply. He attended the Sweet Home Evangelical Church faithfully.
He loved the outdoors. If he had nothing else to do, he would just go for a walk.
He really enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in the garden with his father.
He loved playfully teasing his mother and reading the Bible.
Mr. Epperson is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda J. Epperson of Sweet Home; children Steven and daughter-in-law Serena of Scio, Reta and son-in-law James Holder, and Jay and daughter-in-law Shawnna, all of Falls City; parents James and Betty Epperson of Sweet Home; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, JoAnn Lovato; brother James A. Epperson Jr.; and eight nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen E. Epperson in 2018.
Viewing will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at Sweet Home Evangelical Church.
A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Final burial will be 2 p.m. at Gilliland Cemetery.
Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
