Work on the high school’s new grandstand was completed this week after Sweet Home Rotary Club members finished painting the laminated wood beams.

The football stadium grandstand burned to the ground last September following a football contest against Albany.

Assistant fire chief Ron Fogle said the rapid spread of the fire was partially due to confetti, recent paint on the stands, and the extremely dry conditions of the underside of the stands. The cause of the fire was thought to be a smoldering cigarette which was dropped through the cracks in the grandstand seats.
