November 20, 2019

Fire district personnel and Sheriff's deputies work at the scene of a two-vehicle crash Saturday morning on Brush Creek Road, south of Crawfordsville. The driver of a Honda Accord, in foreground, was hospitalized, according to the Sheriff's Office.

A SHERIFF'S DEPUTY looks over a 1994 Honda Accord that was involved in a collision with a 2011 Ford Econoline van, visible in rear, in the 24400 block of Brush Creek Road Saturday morning, Nov. 16, at 7:40 a.m. Officials said the driver of the Accord, Alina Winn, 17, of Marcola, was transported to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield. Genaro Pablo Mendoza, 22, a passenger in the van, was also taken to the hospital for evaluation. The driver of the van, Antonio Pablo Mendoza, 28, of Woodburn was cited for driving uninsured and driving without privileges. Passengers in the van, Maricela Pablo Ramos; Domingo Jeronimo Ramirez, 24; and Julian Jeronimo Ramirez, 28, declined medical attention. An investigation is continuing. Volunteers from Crawfordsville Station arrived first, followed by a Sweet Home ambulance and battalion chief, firefighters from Halsey who were on their way to a class and Mohawk Valley Rural Fire Department, who were preparing for the class. Sweet Home Fire and Ambulance District Lt. Zach Lincoln said that Sweet Home "is very appreciative" to Mohawk and Halsey for the mutual aid.
