November 27, 2019

TRAFFIC PILES UP at the blocked railroad crossing on Pleasant Valley Road. The gates went down and stayed down at about 11:29 a.m. on Nov. 19. Sweet Home Police Department dispatch contacted Albany and Eastern Railroad, which sent a utility worker to repair the gates. The railroad worker was unable to determine the cause of the malfunction. The gates were fixed at 11:52 a.m.

Nov. 24

3:13 a.m. - Caller reported a broken water line flooding the area, 1700 block of Grape. Officer located the broken water line, which had a moderately steady of flow of water entering the roadway. Public Works advised.

4:11 a.m. - Jesse Lane Davis, 24, cited on Sweet Home warrant for failure to comply on original charge of third-degree theft, Albany.

6:38 a.m. - A 16-year-old female taken into custody for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, 2400 block of Long. Transported to Linn-Benton Juvenile Detention. Caller had reported her daughter taking her vehicle without permission the previous night. The vehicle was returned damaged in the morning.

Nov. 23

1:50 a.m. - Jamie Daniel Carpenter, 43, cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured, 3100 block of Main. Vehicle impounded.

3:31 a.m. - Caller reported an RV parked on the street for several days with people living inside it, 1300 block of 45th. Vehicle posted for removal.

10:49 a.m. - Caller reported finding a deceased duck near the Sweet Home School District Bus Barn. The duck's head was gone. Officer responded. The deceased animal was a goose. It appeared the injury may have been caused by a car driving over it. No signs of foul play.


12:26 p.m. - Deputy located a vehicle nose down off the side of the road leaking fluids, 45000 block of Quartzville. Vehicle towed as an environmental hazard. Deputy attempted to contact the owner but no one answered.

3:04 p.m. - Caller reported forgetting a wallet on a poker machine at All Star Pizza, 1203 Long St. When it was returned, it had $1,000 missing. Report taken.

4:14 p.m. - Caller reported that his girlfriend took his phone and vehicle from his home a couple of hours earlier. He located the vehicle on 4th Avenue. When the caller drove up to the house where his vehicle was, the caller said a male went after him with a shovel. The caller was able to drive away from the male without sustaining any damage. The caller also reported his truck broke down shortly after that and believed his girlfriend "poisoned it." Officer contacted the caller, who did not want to pursue charges in regard to the altercation with the male. Officer advised the caller to call the Sheriff's Office and report the phone and vehicle stolen as well as the truck poisoning.

4:32 p.m. - Caller reported that a female he allowed to stay at his house took and sold his belongings, 1200 block of Poplar. Report taken. Loss valued at $800. Investigation continuing.

5:57 p.m. - Caller reported multiple people loitering, 1501 Main St., Speedee Mart. Officer contacted several individuals and advised them of the complaint. They agreed to gather their belongings and leave the area. They were all made aware of the local warming shelter.


7:30 p.m. - Caller reported a female struck her in the face several times about six days earlier, 1100 block of 4th. Report taken.

8:17 p.m. - Shannon Tranel Trask, 40, arrested on Linn County Justice Court warrant for contempt of court, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department.

8:55 p.m. - Caller reported two males walked out with a cart full of groceries, 1540 Main St., Safeway. Report taken. Loss valued at $250.

Nov. 22

12:36 p.m. - Deputy warned a transient female for illegally camping and made her clean up her camp, 24100 block of Brush Creek. Her DHS worker responded and took her out of the area.

2:15 p.m. - Caller reported a female left the store without paying for items, 621 Main St., Thriftway. Report taken.

2:36 p.m. - Caller reported a two-vehicle crash, 9th and Main. Information exchanged. No injuries. No citations.

3:25 p.m. - Caller reported her ex-boyfriend pawned her property, 300 block of W. Holley Road. Report taken.

3:51 p.m. - A 13-year-old male taken into custody for runaway and Linn County warrants for second-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, failure to appear on three original counts of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of tobacco, Sankey Park. Transported to Linn-Benton Juvenile Detention.


Nov. 21

7:23 a.m. - Caller reported a heated hummingbird feeder stolen, 1200 block of 41st. Information noted.

9:56 a.m. - Deputy advised a male to vacate an illegal camp at Quartzville Road and Boulder Creek because it is unlawful to reside on federal land.

12:21 p.m. - Macayla Marie Jimenez, 23, cited on Sweet Home warrant for failure to appear on original charge of theft by receiving, Linn County Jail.

1 p.m. - Caller reported that someone broke into a travel trailer and had been sleeping in it, 100 block of 8th. Caller wanted the information noted and extra patrol as time allows.

2:19 p.m. - Caller reported a white SUV with no plates and an RV that appeared to have people living inside it, 1300 block of 45th. Officer contacted the owner of the vehicle and the RV. Both said they would be moved by the next day.

2:51 p.m. - Caller reported a male riding a dolly in traffic down the hill, 22nd and Mountain View. Officer contacted the male, who admitted to riding the dolly. He was counseled and agreed not to do it again.

3:55 p.m. - Timothy Morgan, 18, arrested for animal abandonment, 1214 Long St., Sweet Home Veterinary Hospital. Cited and released. Caller had reported a dog left at location.

3:56 p.m. - Shelley Heeren, 50, cited for driving uninsured, 12th near Poplar.

10:06 p.m. - Vehicle posted for removal, Long and 22nd.

11:10 p.m. - Vehicle posted for removal, 700 block of 7th.

11:14 p.m. - Vehicle posted for removal, 700 block of 7th.

11:32 p.m. - Mollie Molene Wright, 40, cited for no license, 1700 block of Main.

11:33 p.m. - Vehicle posted for removal, 300 block of Juniper.

11:46 p.m. - Vehicle posted for removal, 900 block of 4th.

Nov. 20

7:55 a.m. - Caller reported a neighbor's vehicle had been running all night with the headlights on, 2200 block of Main. Officer contacted the male at location. He said he periodically runs the vehicle and forgot to shut it off the previous night.

9:57 a.m. - Caller reported homeless people outside 1530 Main St. Officer contacted two males, who moved to the sidewalk.

10:12 a.m. - Donald Walkup Jr., 24, cited for no license and driving uninsured, 1000 block of Main.

10:57 a.m. - Caller reported that someone opened cell phone accounts in her name, 800 block of 8th. Information noted.

11:30 a.m. - R.A. Ross Allen Scott, 26, arrested on Sweet Home warrant for failure to comply on original charge of third-degree theft, Newport.

12:55 p.m. - Caller reported a fence cut and items missing from a scrap pile, 1400 24th Ave., Sweet Home Public Works. Report taken. Damage estimated at $125.

1:23 p.m. - Caller found a credit card, 18th and Elm. Placed in found property.

1:56 p.m. - Codie Joe Holley, 18, and Rebecca Charlene Fox, 22, arrested for possession of meth, 3100 block of Main. Jimmy Rodger Varner, 52, cited for driving while suspended, driving uninsured and illegal alteration of plates.

2:58 p.m. - Darren Wade Botts, 53, turned himself in on Sweet Home warrant for failure to comply on original charge of failure to register as a sex offender, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department.

4:47 p.m. - Caller reported a debit card and Oregon Trail food card stolen and used, Sweet Home area. Information noted.

5:39 p.m. - Caller reported fraudulent charges on his account, 1600 block of Tamarack. Information noted.

10:48 p.m. - Caleb Bryant Funk, 21, cited for driving while suspended and driving uninsured, Ironwood and 12th.

Nov. 19

4:25 a.m. - Officer located a shattered window at Foster Elementary School, 5526 Poplar St.

10:12 a.m. - Caller reported students fundraising in the Sweet Home area for a trip they are not going on, 880 22nd Ave., Sweet Home Junior High. Officer responded. No evidence of money being given to students. Juveniles counseled for actions.


11:29 a.m. - Multiple callers reported railroad crossing guards were stuck down at Pleasant Valley Road. Dispatch contacted Albany & Eastern railroad, which sent a utility worker to repair the crossing guards. Unknown what caused the malfunction. Traffic cleared.

12:01 p.m. - Caller found a wallet, Dollar Tree. Officer placed it in found property.

12:57 p.m. - Caller reported a male in camouflage with a backpack crouched in the bushes on the south side of Foster Dam. Officer contacted the male, who advised he was trying to get out of the rain.

1:17 p.m. - Skylar James Samson, 29, turned himself in on Sweet Home warrant for failure to comply on original charge of second-degree forgery and Linn County warrant or probation violation on original charge of possession of methamphetamine, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department. Cited and released from lobby.

4:26 p.m. - Caller reported a minor collision, 15th at the entrance to Safeway, 1540 Main St. Officer assisted in exchange of information.

4:53 p.m. - James Michael Heaberlin, 25, arrested for contempt of court, 1317 Fir St. Cited and released.

5:05 p.m. - Brandon Ryan Freeman, 25, arrested on Sweet Home warrant for first-degree criminal trespass, 1950 Main St., Sweet Home Police Department. Cited and released from lobby.

7:15 p.m. - Caller reported someone keeps texting him and his family members, accusing him of being a pedophile, 1800 block of Cedar. Report taken for telephonic harassment.

7:48 p.m. - Nicholas Scott Warren, 39, cited and released in field on three Sweet Home warrants for failure to appear on original charge of third-degree theft and one warrant for failure to appear on original charge of second-degree criminal trespass, 700 block of Main.

Nov. 18

8:07 a.m. - Officer located a street sign that had been bent over, 22nd and Mountain View. Report taken. Public Works advised.

1:38 p.m. - Caller reported that she was scammed out of $3,500, 300 block of Ironwood. Report taken for theft and computer fraud.

3:16 p.m. - Caller reported shoes taken, 3031 Main St., Sweet Home Gleaners. Report taken.

3:45 p.m. - Joseph Lee Shores arrested on Sweet Home warrant for failure to appear on original charge of first-degree criminal trespass, Lebanon.

4:46 p.m. - Caller reported a loose dog, 700 block of Long. Dog returned to owners.

8:47 p.m. - Breanna Marie Johnston, 26, arrested on Sweet Home warrant for third-degree theft, Albany.

11:25 p.m. - Bronwyn Jane Lewis, 46, arrested for harassment, 900 block of Long.
