Foundation announces new grant program

February 5, 2020

The Sweet Home Community Foundation plans to introduce a new grant program in March, foundation officials have announced.

The grant will be named in honor of Alice Blaser, a longtime local elementary school teacher “who touched the lives of many in our community during the 1960s,” the foundation said in a statement.

The new Alice Blaser Grant will award up to $10,000 and is designed to strengthen the Foundation’s basic mission of improving the quality of life in our community, the organization said.

The Blaser Grant will be focused on proposals demonstrating “tangible long term community benefits; a positive wide reaching impact and having the necessary additional financial or in-kind support to achieve success,” the foundation said.

The Sweet Home Community Foundation’s existing Community Grant Program, with annual awards of up to $2,500, will continue.

Both the Alice Blaser and SHCF Community Grant programs will open on March 15. Initial applications for both grants will be available on the SHCF website on that date. The Alice Blaser grants will require several additional steps beyond the current Community Grant program.
