Sweetheart draws runners young and old

Runners spill off the starting line in Sankey Park Saturday morning after Mayor Greg Mahler, right, started the annual Sweetheart 5K and 10K race. The event drew a total of 105 runners and walkers, 42 of them from Sweet Home. Ethan Hurst was the first male finisher of the 5k race with a time of 18:12. Crystal Sota of Salem was the first female finisher, in 25.55. Brandon Williams of Lebanon won the 10K race (6.2 miles), running 38:07. Carl Hoogesteger of Sweet Home was third, in 43:56. Tiuana Feurbacher of Lebanon was fifth overall in 49:29 to win the women's race.
