Rescue on the trail

Sweet Home firefighters and other emergency responders rescue an injured woman on Horse Rock Trail near the Shotgun Creek recreation area Saturday, March 21. Firefighters responded to a technical rescue call at 12:56 p.m. Rescue crews reached the woman about one mile up the trail. They removed her using a rescue litter with a wheel on the flat parts of the trail and a rope system to assist in the steep sections. She was carried up the trail to a radio tower where an ambulance was waiting. The woman was transported to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield. Responding were 15 firefighters from Sweet Home, four from Mowhawk Valley Fire and members of the Linn County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team.
