The public is being asked for help in identifying human remains found April 3 near Gordon Road, east of Sweet Home.
Sheriff Jim Yon said his detectives and the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office are continuing their investigation and have determined that the partially skeletonized remains are that of a white female, between 30-50 years of age, with short, wavy brown hair.
“It is estimated her remains had been there between eight weeks to one year prior to being found,” Yon said.
Clothing found with the unidentified female included
A size extra small purple athletic jacket with open “scalloped” back, Apana brand;
A teal-colored camisole with spaghetti straps, BKE Core brand, size s/extra long;
A heather gray front-zip sports bra, Victoria’s Secret VSX Sport brand, size 32C;
Size 9.5 black dress boots, Steve Madden brand; and
Size 5 or 6 blue jeans, 32-inch length, Blue denim with crystal embellishments on front and back pockets, Wranglers brand;
The clothing depicted in the accompanying photographs is similar to that found.
The remains were found off Forest Road 417 about five miles off Highway 20 along Gordon Road.
They were sent to a lab in Baltimore, Md., which will do some DNA testing, Yon said, adding he is hoping for results within two months.
Detectives worked with the Oregon State Police and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office's Certified Forensic Artist Kali Bellman to come up with a facial composite drawing created of the female.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation or the female’s identity is encouraged to contact Detective Colin Pyle at (541) 967-3950.
