Debra Mae Greer, 67, of Sweet Home died April 27, 2020 at the Evergreen Hospice House in Albany following a struggle with cancer.
She was born Oct. 21, 1952 in Lebanon to Ruth Montgomery-Gates and Frank Gates.
She graduated from Sweet Home High School with the Class of 1971. Following high school, she attended Portland State University.
Mrs. Greer spent most of her life in Sweet Home, but lived in Walnut Creek and Grass Valley, Calif., where her three children were born.
She worked for the Sweet Home School District, Pacific Power and as a bank teller in Albany before going on to spend 28 years as a supervisor at White’s Electronics.
Mrs. Greer was the life of the party, kind, loving, warm-hearted and generous. She could light up the room with her smile. She loved her grandchildren and her wonderful group of friends.
She enjoyed camping and being out in her garden, loved her cats Gracie and Sammy, and loved attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. She was an excellent cook and could make an amazing holiday meal. She also loved frogs and heart rocks.
Mrs. Greer is survived by her father, Frank Gates; brother Frank Jr. and sister-in-law Carol Gates, brother Steve and sister-in-law Jill Gates; her children, Ryan, Cara and Daniel Greer; and eight grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Montgomery-Gates; and granddaughter Audreena Greer.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
