Folk artist to play
at Marks Ridge
Lavinia Ross will play at Marks Ridge Winery during its summer concert series Friday, July 20, at 7 p.m. at 29255 Berlin Road.
Ross, a longtime local folk performer, will present a program of original songs and covers of classic folk tunes.
Cost is $10 per person. Bring a picnic dinner, friends, blankets and lawn chairs. Wine is available for sale.

Jobe Woosley to perform Saturday
Summer Bands and Brews takes place Saturday evenings in Strawberry Plaza, 847 S. Main St. in Lebanon.
Jobe Woosley and Co. will play at 7 p.m. Admission is free.
Woosley, who grew up in Sweet Home and lives in the area, performs a rich mix of americana, country, folk, indie, rock, including original songs.
Scholarships berry sale ends Thursday
Sweet Home’s PEO Chapter DD is holding its annual berry sale, to raise funds for college funds for local women, through Thursday, July 9.
The blackberries, strawberries and blueberries are freshly picked prior to flash freezing, and delivered in 9-pound plastic pails.

Those purchasing berries will be able to pick them up in Sweet Home on Aug. 8 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The pickup area will be on Long Street behind the Rio Theater.
All proceeds from the berry sale provide educational scholarships, loans and grants to women in our community.
Police to hold bike rodeo for local kids
The Sweet Home Police Department and its Volunteers in Police Service will host a bicycle rodeo and give away helmets to children ages 4 to 17 from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 10, in the parking lot at the department, 1950 Main St.
Also free to children will be a bike safety inspection, bike registration, hot dogs and a skills course, with a chance to win a free bicycle. Helmets and hot dogs will be available while supplies last.
The event is limited to 250 people at a time. They must maintain at least 6 feet of physical distancing between non-household members while at the event.

Community yard sale Saturday
A Sweet Home Community Yard Sale will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11.
If your garage, shop, and closets are full of spring cleaning casualties, submit your address to the Chamber of Commerce to have your yard sale on the Sweet Home Community Yard Sale map.
Each location will have hidden painted rocks, which can be returned to the Sweet Home Chamber of Commerce office to redeem a prize.
Cost to participate is $10. Maps will be emailed prior to the event, and
will be available for pick-up at the Chamber of Commerce office, 1575 Main St.
SAFE Committee to hold can drive
The 2021 Senior Alcohol Free Entertainment organizing committee will hold a bottle and can drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 11, at O’Reilly’s parking lot on the corner of 12th Avenue and Main Street.

Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels offers take-out lunch at the Sweet Home Community Center to seniors over 60 at noon on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.
The Senior Center serves a separate lunch on Wednesdays.
Suggested donation is $3.50. All meals are served with milk upon request and diabetic desserts are available on request.
The menu on Friday, July 10, is chicken or egg salad sandwich half on wheat bread, minestrone soup, marinated garden salad and spiced apple slices.
The menu on Monday, July 13, is turkey apple meatballs with cider glaze, or roast pork with mustard sauce, whipped sweet potatoes, lima beans, squash roll and hermit bar.
The menu on Tuesday, July 14, is cowboy campfire stew or cheese and green chile bake, Mexicali corn, tossed salad, potato wheat roll and lime gelatin with whipped topping.
