Sharon Sue Rowton, 78, of Sweet Home, passed away Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, with her family by her side.

She was born Dec. 11, 1941 in Superior, Neb., to Charles and Virginia (Oglevie) Sigle.

She grew up in Portland. After marrying Paul Rowton and starting her family she moved to Longcreek in 1965, and then came to Sweet Home in 1967.

She was divorced in 1977 and stayed in Sweet Home the rest of her life.

Sharon graduated from Cascade College in 1964. She raised her family as a stay-at- home mom before going back to school in 1979. She taught Title 1 reading at Oak Heights Elementary and Hawthorne Elementary before retiring in 2001.

She enjoyed reading, painting, cross stitching, bird watching and singing on her church worship team. She loved spending time with her grandkids, watching the great-grandkids and spending time at the beach watching the ocean.

Sharon is survived by her children, Paul Jr. and his wife Joyce Rowton, Michelle and her husband Wade Gregory, and Christopher Rowton, all of Sweet Home; grandchildren Kyle Rowton of Milwaukie, Michael Rowton of Albany, Sean Swett and Danielle Looney, both of Sweet Home, Christian Gregory of Sweet Home, and Whitney Bullock and Lacey Bruce; great- grandchildren Noelle and Hadlie Rowton of Milwaukie, Everly Rowton of Albany, Brody, Lucas and Lacee Swett, and Kaylee, Madison, Rylee and Avery Looney, all of Sweet Home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Sigle in 1945 (Paratrooper KIA WWII); step-father Vern Noel in 1977; and mother Virginia Noel in 2009.

Viewing will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Sweet Home Funeral Chapel. An outdoor funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at Hillside Fellowship in Sweet Home.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
