Bertha Marie Charles, 83, of Sweet Home, died Nov. 2, 2020.

She was born Sept. 7, 1937 in Lone Wolf, Okla. to William and Bertie Zella (Blair) Branam.

She lived in many places, including Oklahoma, California, Ohio, Harrisburg, LaPine, Junction City and Sweet Home.

Mrs. Charles owned her own craft shop in LaPine for many years. She enjoyed volunteering at various places, including the American Legion Post 45, where she was the women’s president. She was the grand marshal for the LaPine Parade in 1985.

Mrs. Charles also competed in NW Belly Dancing Competitions.

She is survived by her children, Camella “Candy” Boyd of Sweet Home, Samuel “Wayne” Boyd of Chiloquin, Steven Boyd of Lebanon, and Timothy Boyd of Columbus, N.J.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Charles; her parents; brother Bob Branam; and sister Betty Howell.

Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Church of the Nazarene, 600 W. D St., Lebanon.

Sweet Home Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
