The New Era - All about Sweet Home since 1929

Raquel Dawn Gonzalez Ndzeidze

December 30, 2020

Oct. 18, 1981 – Dec. 17, 2020

Raquel Dawn Gonzalez Ndzeidze, 39, of Corvallis, passed away Dec. 17, 2020 with her loving husband by her side.

She was born Oct. 18, 1981 in Corvallis to Agustin and Teresa Gonzalez.

Raquel grew up in Sweet Home and graduated from Sweet Home High School in 2000. She then went on to Linn-Benton Community College and later to Oregon State University for a degree in business, and was about to complete her MBA from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Raquel worked at Willamette Industries, Weyerhaeuser, and Lebanon High School for many years before working for Oregon State University.

She married the love of her life, Stephen Ndzeidze, a Fulbright scholar from Cameroon to OSU, on Sep. 15, 2013.

Words cannot capture the spirit that Raquel had within her.

From childhood until the day she passed she held a light within her that few, if any, individuals have. Raquel loved her friends and family with her whole heart.

She strived to be a beacon of hope for those around her and radiated positivity. There is nothing that Raquel could not accomplish. Her smile and laugh were infectious and surely could light up a room. Her big heart, radiant personality, and love for others will be deeply missed.

Raquel enjoyed spending time with her husband Stephen at the Oregon Coast and Finley Wildlife Refuge. They would often spend their time enjoying the outdoors and picking fruit.

Raquel spent her life taking advantage of all it had to offer – from taking it easy floating at Lewis Creek to racing cars in the Alvord Desert.

Raquel is survived by her husband, Stephen Ndzeidze of Corvallis; sisters Twyla Bohrer of Eugene and Julia Weist of Lebanon; father Agustin Gonzalez of Eugene; and mother Teresa Gonzalez of Lebanon.

Raquel will have two services. She will have a virtual service through the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses – Corvallis at 6 p.m. on Jan. 7, 2021. Please email twyla_a_gonzalez@hotmail.com for the link.

Raquel's second service will take place Jan. 8 at Saint Mary's Corvallis. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m., with service starting at 11 a.m. and burial to follow.

McHenry Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
